The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) has launched a free app which allows you to compare the latest proposed texts of the draft EU Data Protection Regulation from the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council.

You can upload any two texts to compare them side-by-side on your screen to analyse the similarities and differences proposed by each EU institution.

The app also includes the latest recommendations from the EDPS (Opinion 3/2015) to the co-legislators.

Trilogue negotiations between the Council, the European Parliament and the EU Commission recently began with the aim of reaching a final agreement on the proposed EU Data Protection Regulation by the end of 2015. Once adopted, there will be a two-year transitional period before the Regulation comes into operation.

The basis for the trilogue discussions is the Commission’s proposal of January 2012, the Parliament’s resolution of 12 March 2014, and the General Approach of the Council adopted on 15 June 2015.
